For our anniversary, my husband and I visited Whidbey Island, Washington, which is just about an hour's drive from Seattle.
We stayed in a Bed & Breakfast and were fascinated by Fort Casey State Park, with its gun turrets, open greens and beautiful lighthouse.
Ships bound from the Pacific to Seattle must first pass along the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, which separates the Olympic Peninsula and Canada’s Vancouver Island, and then turn south and navigate through Admiralty Inlet before reaching Puget Sound. The restored lighthouse overlooks Admiralty Inlet.
